Taipei,Taiwan-Environmental-friendliness has always been AAEON's guideline for running our business and we have worked hard on this issue for years. AAEON respects the global environment and has had continuous efforts for environmental protection. In addition to being an IS0-14001 certified company, AAEON is now proactively and aggressively taking necessary actions to response to the RoHS Directive that was approved by the Europe Union on 27 January 2003. RoHS stands for Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substance in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). According to the RoHS Directive, from 1 July 2006, new electrical and electronic equipment on the market MUST not contain lead (1000 ppm), mercury (1000 ppm), cadmium (100 ppm), hexavalent chromium (1000 ppm), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB, 1000 ppm) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE, 1000 ppm). The ppm in parenthesis means that a maximum concentration value by weight in homogeneous materials shall be tolerated. Homogeneous material means a material that cannot be mechanically disjointed into different materials.
In order to follow the RoHS Directive of Europe Union (effective date: July 01, 2006), AAEON has had several steps taken to live up to our social responsibilities. We intend to offer customers safer products and better protect our global environment, and have gotten a lead-free manufacturing process ready in May, 2004. In addition to our lead-free manufacturing process, we plan to deliver RoHS compliant products by early Q3, 2005. For detailed schedule, please refer to the attachement.
