FOX-122: AAEON's Application for the Mechanized Forestry Industry

Background: This company was founded over 30 years ago for the mechanized forestry operations industry. Although they are headquartered in Europe, the company has offices worldwide. They sell single grip harvesters, which are launched onto carriers to de-limb trees to the desired length.
Application Introduction: HMI for harvest heads, or single grip harvesters, are used to cut down trees with the minimum amount of effort. These harvesters are latched onto carriers, which can be used for forestry tractors to excavators. Since AAEON's client continuously de-limbs trees in dry and wet conditions, they were looking for a water-proof and dust-proof panel PC. Because the client works in a rugged environment, they were also looking for a PC that had anti-shock, anti-vibrations properties and internal speakers over 80dB. The panel PC needed to include more I/O ports for flexibility and have a built-in CAN bus as well as WiFi with stable cabling.
AAEON's Solution: To fit all of the client's requests, AAEON introduced the IP-67 certified FOX-122 to the customer. AAEON exchanged the water-proof rubber seal for a slimmer one to allow more sound to be emitted from the speakers. AAEON also added a white resonating plate to enhance the volume and adjusted the resistor to increase the current. The original 65 dB was thus upgraded to 82 dB to fit the customer's requirement. An additional water-proof I/O port was added and a rearranged USB pin assignment added the final customization for the project.
Conclusion: The client chose AAEON's solution because of the exemplary effort and service that AAEON offered. A customized Windows® XP Embedded OS for multi-lingual options also helped fulfill the customers' criteria. With power trigger/DIO wiring, backlight on/off brightness adjustments and USB pin modifications, the client was impressed with the collaboration efforts that AAEON supported. The FOX-122's sunlight readable properties enabled the customer to see the screen clearly, and the water-proof and dust-proof properties kept the panel PC running smoothly throughout the day.
